This early Angela Mao film is a true gem for fans and collectors alike. The plot centres around Yang Dart Master, who is killed by the antagonist Hong Tianba (played by Zhang Yifei). In a desperate attempt to avenge his father, Yang Dart Master's son, Yang Jiaxiong (played by Zhang Chong), suffers severe injuries. Rescued by Zhang Cuicui (Zhang Meiyao), he’s taken to Cheng Xuewei’s (Lei Ming) house, where he recuperates and begins a life incognito, working as a labourer. Meanwhile, Hong Tianba, injured by Yang Jiaxiong, is nursed back to health by his brothers, Fu Hong (Jin Lishi) and Wei Bosheng (Yi Yuan). Together, they gather a gang of bandits and form the notorious “Eight Thieves,” who, in a Robin Hood-like twist, operate with a blend of rogue honour and rebellion. Despite the unusual story-line, the film delivers intense action sequences and remains an engaging watch for its time, showcasing Angela Mao’s early star power.
